There is certainly a difference between diffusion and reverse osmosis. Furthermore, diffusion refers to a movement of molecules from higher to lower concentration region. In contrast, reverse osmosis happens when the movement of water is across the membrane against the concentration gradient, from lower to a higher concentration. Diffusion vs Dialysis vs Osmosis The diffusion differs from the other two in the sense that it involves the materials movements not just water or small molecules. Osmosis involves only water movement from lower to higher concentration levels whereas the dialysis has a membrane which allows the slightly bigger molecules to be passed through it.
Diffusion and Osmosis Difference How are Diffusion and Osmosis Alike Neither process can initiate unless there is a difference in the concentration of particles between two regions. The processes are complete only when the concentration of the particles becomes even in both regions (equilibrium).
