May 05, 2020 · Under PUA, up to 39 weeks’ worth of benefits are potentially available for COVID-19-related unemployment claims. PUA claims will be backdated to the individuals’ first week of unemployment, but no earlier than February 2 and will continue no later than the week ending December 26. Beginning October 31, 2020, we began adding seven weeks of benefits to existing PUA claims for a total of up to 46 weeks of benefits. From the 46 weeks, we deduct any weeks paid on a regular UI claim or FED-ED extension. This calculation is the same for existing PUA claims and for new claims filed on or after October 31, 2020.
